About me
Hi, y'all! I'm Sofia Gonzalez. I'm currently on the hunt for my next job. From March 2024 to April 2026, I was the Food and Travel Editor for Houstonia Magazine. Here, I learned about the world of food and travel through conversations with local chefs, hospitality industry leaders, community members, and public relations professionals. This role included both print and digital stories, as well as project management to coordinate with sources, photographers, and other folks involved in the process, ensuring each story was published in a timely manner.
Before my role at Houstonia, I was the Education, Economic Development, and DEI reporter for the Houston Business Journal. In the business journalism world, I had the privilege of speaking with CEOs, local education and government leaders, and other key stakeholders. This led me to become an Emerging Leader for the Greater Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2023.
For the first eight months of my career, I was the Houston City Hall Reporter/River Oaks, Montrose, and Heights Reporter for Community Impact Newspaper. With this job, I learned early on what it meant to report on the local stories that Houstonians not only cared to read but needed to know.
